Welcome to University Canada West:

Established in 2004 as a private Canadian University, University Canada West (UCW) offers an approach for students to obtain a university degree. Accelerated programs, based on market-driven curriculum and a flexible model of delivery give students the ability to pursue an education that suits their needs.

University Canada West is a progressive, private University growing from strong beginnings, with two campuses (Victoria and Vancouver) offering on-line and accelerate program delivery options, we provide a range of educational choices.

Canada's universities share a key strength: their high quality. Canadian universities have a long record of providing an accessible university education to students from across Canada and around the world. Reflecting the rich history many cultures and traditions, Canadian universities offer a mix of opportunities in a variety of educational settings.

Victoria Campus:

Our Victoria Campus is located at 950 Kings Road in downtown Victoria, the picturesque capital city of British Columbia. Sitting on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, Victoria is home to a scenic view of ocean and lakes, vibrant parks and gardens, and urban cityscape. Even within this large city, our Victoria campus has a small, close-knit community feeling. Students do not have to travel far to experience the best of Victoria; nearby public libraries, recreation facilities, restaurants, shopping centres, private and public art galleries, and the Royal British Columbia Museum are available for leisure and study. Our Victoria Campus is also serviced by an extensive public transit system and Victoria’s ferry system gives you quick access to mainland destinations such as the cities of Vancouver and Seattle.

Vancouver Campus:

Our Vancouver campus is located at 1111 Melville Street in the heart of Vancouver’s downtown core. Among the hustle and bustle of the city’s commerce, shopping, and entertainment districts is University Canada West’s small, intimate campus. By studying in the downtown core, students are given an opportunity to experience the business hub of the city while within our friendly, comfortable academic environment. Conveniently located by major bus routes and steps away from the Skytrain, this campus allows students from outlying areas to easily commute to campus.

The city of Vancouver has recently been ranked in the top three liveable cities in the world and in the top five cities with the highest quality of living in the world. Between its beautiful mountain and Pacific Ocean views and lively, urban atmosphere, Vancouver is an ideal place to live and study. As one of Canada’s major seaports along the coast of British Columbia, Vancouver is a gateway to the Pacific Rim, Pacific Northwest, and beyond. It is the third largest city in Canada with over 2.5 million people living in the Metro Vancouver area.

City of Vancouver:

The City of Vancouver has only four percent of Metro Vancouver’s land, but over a quarter of the population and over a third of the jobs in the region. Find out more about past change and future expectations for population, housing, employment, land use and transportation in the webpages below.

Employment in the City of Vancouver has been growing steadily over the last 30 to 40 years but there have been dramatic changes in the types of jobs. The city has almost 60% of the population in the labour force, one of the highest ‘participation rates’ in Canada. Traditional heavy industries have declined while new jobs in personal and business services have expanded sharply. Downtown Vancouver continues to be the most important regional location for business and major institutions. Bordered by the Coast Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean, Vancouver is recognized as one of the world's most livable cities with one of the smallest carbon footprints of any major city in North America.

February and March 2010, Vancouver hosted the 2010 Olympic and Paralympics Winter Games with great enthusiasm. For Vancouver, the benefits of hosting the world will continue with memories to last a lifetime, but also leave Vancouver with Olympic-quality sports facilities, public transit, green buildings and arts and culture – legacies that residents and visitors alike will enjoy and appreciate for many years to come.
