THE VISA LETTER FOR ADULTS STUDENTS

Documents used to get the visa letter

List of evidence the approved education provider used to assess your academic ability to finish the course which may include:

□level or type of qualification (if applicable)

□qualification awarding body and/or institution (if applicable)

□Confirmation that an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) clearance certificate is needed (if applicable)

 

HOW MANY POINTS STUDENT NEED TO APPLY AS AN ADULT STUDENT

 

□30 point for a visa letter, which you get for studying a course at an acceptable level with an approved education provider (also known as sponsorship); and

◊The students will only get the points if the applied institute/ approved education provider doesmeet all the requirements of the immigration rules and if all the document listed in the Visa letter are sent with the student’s application.

□10 points for having enough money (also known as maintenance of funds) for your course fees and living costs.

◊To get 10 points, the student needs to show proof of their availability of money. This is also known as maintenance or funds and this depends on duration of the course.

 

MONEY NEEDED

 

The money you need to show covers fees for your first year of study and living costs for up to a maximum of nine months. The amount you will need depends on whether you are applying as a child or adult. Your money must be held in cash. Shares, bonds, pension funds and similar savings accounts will not be accepted. You must show that you have held the money for at least 28 days prior to the date of application. The funds must be in an account in your name.

 

PROOF OF AVAILABILITY OF MONEY

 

You can prove you have the money if you have:

□Cash in an account in your name (this includes joint accounts with your name); or

□A loan in your name

□ Or official financial or government sponsorship.

You must show you have enough money to pay your fees for the first year and your monthly living costs for upto nine months (or for the length of your course if it is shorter than nine months)

NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR VISA APPLICATION

 

□ Your passport or travel document;

 

  Health screening certificate (TB Test)

 

  The fee as published on the visa fees page on this website. This cannot be refunded and you must pay in local currency;

 

  Photocopy of offer letter/ Confirmation of Acceptence for Studies-CAS (If you already have an offer letter fron a UKBA approved education provider)

 

  Photocopy of your academic records-Two (2) sets

 

  Educational certificates

 

  Testimonial from institution

 

  Marksheets / certificates

 

  Transcripts

 

  Registration / admit cards

 

  Photocopy of IELTS Two – (2) sets (as required by UK institutions)

 

  Job certificates (If applicable)-Two (2) sets

 

□ Your biometric details (see below) ;

 

  A recent passport sized photograph

 

(If the application is successful, the photographs provided will be reproduced on the visa vignette).

 

Please note-photographs should measure 45mmx35mm and be:

 

● In colour taken against a white background;

 

● Clear and of good quality and not framed or backed;

 

● Printed on normal photographic paper;

 

  Full face and without sunglasses, hat or head covering (unless it is worn for cultural or religious reasons but the face must not be covered).

 

 

□ All documents as specified in the Tier 4 Guidance as stated in the Immigration Rules. If you do not submit relevant documents, your application is likely to be refused as UKBA will be unable to award the relevant points.

 

ACCEPTED FORM OF FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS

 

Only the following documents will be accepted as evidence.:

□ Personal bank or building society statements;

□ Savings account/building society pass book / s;

□ Letter from your bank or building society;

□ Letter from a financial institution regulated by the home regulator

(official regulatory body for the country in which the institution operates and the funds are located) confirming funds or loan.

 

Personal bank or building society statements

 

These should clearly show:

 

□ Your name
□ Your account number;

□ The date of the statement;

□ The financial institution’s name and logo’

□ The level of funds available.

 

Ad hoc bank statements printed on the bank’s letterhead are allowed as evidence, but not if they are mini-statements from cash points. If you wish to send electronic bank statements from an online account they must have all of the details listed above. You will also need to send a supporting letter from your bank, on company headed paper, confirming the authenticity of the statements provided. An electronic bank statement bearing the official stamp of the bank will be accepted. This stamp should appear on every page of the statement.

 

Savings account/building society pass books

 

These should clearly show:

 

□ Your name

□ Your account number;

□ The financial institution’s name and logo;

□ The level of funds available.

 

Letter from a bank confirming funds

 

These should clearly show:

□ Your name/ the name of a child’s parent (S) or legal guardian, if applicable;

□ Your account number;

□ The date of the letter;

□The financial institution’s name and logo;

□ The funds held in your account;

□ That there is enough money in the account to cover your tuition fees and living costs

 

Letter from a regulated financial institution confirming funds or loan

 

These should clearly show:

□ Your name / the name of a child’s parent (s) legal guardian if applicable;

□ Your account number;

□ The date of the letter;

□ The financial institution’s name and logo and either

□ The funds held in your account; or

□ The funds available to you as a loan.

 

KEY BENEFITS OF THE NEW SYSTEM

□ The sponsor license ensures all genuine and eliminate bogus institutions;

□ Sponsors are responsible for assessing whether a student meets the academic requirements for the course;

□ The student’s visa is linked to the institution; and depending on what has been studied, if student want to stay on in the United Kingdom once they have successfully got their qualification, they may be eligible to switch into the post-study worker category of tier1.

 

POINTS BASED SYSTEM TIER 1 (POST-STUDY WORKS)

What is the post-study worker category?

 

You can come to the UK or remain here as a post-study worker (Tier 1 Post-study work) under points-based system to work in the UK.

 

You can apply under the post-study worker category now if you are:

□ In the United Kingdom with permission to stay under the Science and Engineering Graduates Scheme (SEGS), International Graduates Scheme (IGS) or Fresh Talent:

Working in Scotland Scheme (FT: WISS); or

In the United Kingdom as a student, which includes students, student nurses, students resitting examinations and students writing up a thesis, and want to switch into the post-study worker category.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW-APPLICATIONS FROM OUTSIDE THE UK ONLY

 

If your application is refused for entry clearance and you think that an erreo has been made, you can ask UKBA to check their decision. This is known as an Administrative Review.

 

The Administrative Review is free of charge. You must ask for an Administrative Rewiew within 28 days from the date you receive the refusal notice (GV51)

You must complete this in full and send it directly to the address stated on the Request Notice.

 

You MUST NOT send any additional documents such as passport/travel document or supporting documents with the Administrative Review Request Notice. If the refusal is subsequently overturned, you will be asked to send in your passport/travel document. You  may request only ONE Administrative Review per refusal decision. Any further review requests for the same refusal decision will not be accepted and will be returned to you.

The Administrative Review will be completed within 28 days and you will be notified of the result in writing. The result of the Review may be sent from a different Post to where the original decision was made, to ensure that the Review is independent.

 

If you are already in the United Kingdom you cannot apply for an Administrative Review.

WHAT ARE THE RULES ABOUT FORGED DOCUMENT

 

If you use deception in your visa application, including submitting forged documents and failing to disclose previous visa application refusals, this will lead to your application being refused. It may also result in future visa applications to UK being automatically refused for 10 years.
